Tigress at Jhirna, Corbett Tiger Reserve

Tigress at Jhirna, Corbett Tiger Reserve

On a drive to Jhirna tourism zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve, sometime during the month of February 2019, we came across fresh footprints of a large tigress and as we were waiting and listening to the alarm calls of Grey Langur, we heard a loud call of the tigerss. It called repeatedly and came closer and closer to where we were waiting on the other side of a narrow stream.

It was not long before the tigress appeared from behind the bend in the road, stopped calling and looked at us. It moved gracefully across the road and gently disappeared in the thickets. It was recorded by Jim’s Jungle Retreat Chief Naturalist Manoj Sharma.
