Tricolour Pied Flat is an uncommon butterfly found from Himachal Pradesh eastward to eastern Himalayas, occurring between May and December at stream edges in forested areas from 600 m upto 2000 m elevation.
Interestingly, the species has been recorded at Jim’s Jungle Retreat twice in the last 2-3 years, at an elevation range of approximately 325m. This image was taken at Jim’s Jungle Retreat by our naturalist Jeewan Rautela.
